ABOUT HEALTH or HOW TO MAINTAIN THE HEALTH

 

About Health

 

How to keep healthy this was one major question to every working personal, either he is working in corporate world either he/she is working in Govt. Organisation either else house holds.  Then take a simple steps to keep healthy :-

 

·         Health is a State of balance and happiness.

·         We must wakeup early in the morning a little before sunrise.

·         Drink 2-4 glasses of safe drinking water.

·         Go to the toilet.

·         Clean the teeth using any paste.  This will make the teeth strong and protect from oral diseases.

·         Massage the body with mustard or sesame oil

·         Exercise or do suryanamaskar till sweat beads from on borehead and armpits.

·         Take a warm water to bath.  Use water boiled with neem leaves in rainy season, with nagod leaves in winter and with butea flowers in summer.

·         Rub the wipe the body dry and wear clean clothes according to seasons.

·         Wash the hair with cold water, using a decoction made from soap nut, shikakai and amla.  Apply oil in hair and rub the same on soles.

·         Meditate for a while before you sleep.

·         Sleep early, but at least two hours after dinner.  Sleep on a clean bed with head toward south or east.

·         Wash your hands, feet and face before eating.

ü  Eat in clean utensils and place.  Eat when you are hungry, in a peaceful state of mind.  Eat with interest in food.

ü  Eat a light, freshly cooked breakfast.

ü  Lunch when the sun is exactly over head, around 12.00 noon. This facilitates digestion of food.

ü  Eat food which has a balance of sweet, sour, salt, pungent, bitter and astringent tastes.

ü  Have dinner before or a short while after sunset.

ü  Have a betel leaf with digestive herbs like mint, foeniculum, cinnamon etc should be taken after meals.

ü  Drink Buttermilk at the end of meals and milk at the end of the day.

 

How to maintain healthy :-

 

            Eat daily nutrition foods like All cereals and tubers, nuts, sugar, Jaggery, Oil, ghee, butter etc are give energy to our body.

 

v  All Pulses, milk and milk products, groundnuts, meat, eggs, fish etc. to help in growing and maintaining wear and tear of body.

 

v  All Vegetables and fruits, milk and milk products, egg, meat, fish, cereals and pulses prevent illness.

 

v  Green leafy vegetables, jiggery, all pulses, liver, meat, germinated pulses, cereals like bajri(pear millet), and citrus fruits like lemon, amala and guava from eating these food to keep our blood red.

 

v  Milk and milk products, dark yellow and orange vegetables and fruits like pumpkin, papaya, carrot from these foods to make our eyes bright.

 

v  Milk and milk products, cereals, pulses, banana, meat, eggs, etc. these foods make our bones strong.

 

            From these food we need to eat daily.  Boys and girls, men and women, in all life stages need to eat foods from all the above said groups.  Eating food to keep us healthy and fit so that we are able to work in every place.  But do not discriminate between boy and girl.

 

            Age wise food requirements are also very important like new born baby or infancy children’s should eat below said foods:-

v  Breastfeed the newborn immediately after birth.  Feed colostrums to the newborn as it makes the baby strong.  The baby should be exclusively breastfeed for six months of age.

v  At six months of age, feed the baby girls and boy, soft, mushy foods, with plenty of body building and energy rich food cooked at home.

v  Continue feeding the infant various types of food, several times during the day.  Include foods from all the three groups.

v  Continue feeding the child energy rich foods even during sickness.  Feed the child one extra meal, for a week after the illness.

v  In the child hood feed the girl and boy, foods from all the three groups, particularly energy rich foods, frequently during the day.

v  Give body building and energy rich foods requently. Girls should be given food that keep the blood red.  In adulthood women and men should eat foods from all the three groups, based on the work they do.

v  During pregnancy women should eat foods that keep the blood red, eyes bright and provide energy.  After childbirth and during breastfeeding, a woman should eat foods that provide energy and keep the blood red.  Older people should eat foods that provide energy, keep the bones strong and are soft cooked.

 

Vitamin A Deficiency :-

            Child complains about poor eyesight in the dark.  Eyes become dry and the white portion looses shine and becomes wrinkled.  Grey bubble patches are formed in white portion of eyes.

 

è Five doses of Vitamin A are given to children from 6 months to 3 y3ars of age at the any Anganwadi Center or in nearest Hospitals.

è Breast feed the child for two years.  From six months of age, feed foods that keep the eyes healthy.

 

Home remedies to keep healthy :

Ø  If you have nausea and vomiting problem : Soak a teaspoonful of foeniculum seeds (saunf which one add in our eating pan also) (variali saunf) in a clay vessel, at night.  In the morning, mash the soaked foeniculum, add sugarcandy as per taste and drink it on an empty stomach.  Drink plenty of fresh butter milk, lemon juice, curd (yogurt) and coconut water.

Ø  Heat Exhaustion : Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water and also other fluids frequently like lemon water, butter milk etc.,  Drink ¼ th cup of onion juice or eat 1 onion before moving out in the sun. Or boil one unripe mango and squeeze its pulp.  Mis it in 2 glasses of water add roasted jeera powder, salt, jiggery / sugar and min leaves.  During it several times during the day.

Ø  Skin infection and allergies : Boild Margosa (neem) leaves in water till the water turns yellowish green (water and neem leaves taken according to the need).  Use this water for bathing and washing the affected part.  Or rub the inner bark of the need trunk on a clean stone and prepare a paste.  Apply this paste on the affected part.  Or apply coconut oil on the affected part in case there is itching on the skin.

Ø  Respiratory / Breathing Problems : Eat ½ tea spoon of gooseberry (Amla or nellikai) powder with honey or water.  Eat them in plenty during change of season, in any form.

Ø  Cough and difficult breathing : Take a plant of Kanteri (Bhoin ringni, Solanum xanthocarpum) Chop it and boil it in water till it halves in quantity.  Drink this in the morning on an empty stomach, till the problem subsides.  If there is a lot of sputum, boil 3-4 leaves or Ardusi (Malabar nut) in a cup of water, till half the quantity remains.  Drink this on an empty stomach in the morning and at night.

Drinking hot water and doing salt water gargling helps.

When there is congestion, boil water and add bishops seeds (ajwain).  Inhale the steam.

Ø  For Aches and Pains : Boil leaves of nagod (vitex negundo).  When it becomes lukewarm, pour it on the affected area.  You may heat leaves of castor (errand) and tie them on the affected part.

 

Keep healthy and Our health is in our Hands only.
