The starting point for private enterprises is low, technical force is very weak, poorly equipped, the products are mostly to imitate the production, especially in low-pressure valves used in water supply and drainage, a problem more serious.

In product development, it is necessary for large projects, one developed complete sets of Engineered Valves, and second, focus on the multi-species and multi-product manufacturing specifications. Based on the current national key project development plan, the valve industry, "Eleventh Five-Year" period and the demand for the next few years, mainly in long-term pipeline valves, "Water Diversion Project" and other fields. FUNCTIONNING AREAS OF THE DEPARTMENTS
The various departments of BDK engineering industries Ltd. performs their activities/functions through the department manual and work instruction kept at each department and internal communication [where in objectives, responsibility, procedures] to co-coordinating with others department for development for developmental activities and to ensure that appropriate internal communication is established within the organization for the effectiveness of the quality management system.

TIME OFFICE DEPARTMENT [TOD]
The time office department of BDK Engineering Industries Pvt Ltd. functions as HRD department. In various other companies the time office activities are very decisive in administration and development of personnel. It keeps complete personnel records of all the employees, such as name, address, qualification, experience, employees  number, attendance, leave records, salary structure etc.

There are hardly 550 to 600 employees workings in BDK group and every case is taken by the company for the comforts and development of its workers in the form of introducing scheme, providing bonus, gratuity, etc.

OBJECTIVES;
·         To maintain attendance records and other works related to ESIC.PF and other statutory requirements.
·         To maintain quality records so as to demonstrate the achievement of specified requirement at various stages and to provide proof of implementing the same.

FUNCTIONS;
·         Maintaining attendance records is done through punching machine, which punches the time and date employees enter the monthly.
·         Salary administration that includes preparation of salary slip of every employee, in which earning includes, basic pay, dearness allowances, HRA conveyance allowance and miscellaneous. Deductions include provident fund [PF], ESIC,IT, coupons(canteen), LIC, bank loan, labour welfare fund,
·         towards the government like payment of PF, ESI, TAXES LIKE income tax, CSI, EXCISE DUTY, ETC.
·         Every operation deals with different categories of leave such as casual leave, sick leave, and earned leave of 21 days. If a worker is regular, he is provided with all regularity incentives.
·         Time office has the role of intermediary to play between the management and employees in any issues and information to be provided to both the parties to and from.
·         The department issues concession coupons to all members for their breakfast, lunch, etc
·         Department provides 2 sets of uniform, sock, shoes, safety goggles, gloves, etc to workers every years.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT;
BDK EI has a fully-fledged design and development department. The complete range of products are designed and developed by this department. Each podium is tested as per the testing standard and quality norms laid down to ensure high quality products. The department is fully equipped with Pentium-III computer and Computer has a CAD office with all advanced updated software’s, which assist to fulfill this dept objective. It also comprises of color laser printer, various to her software’s for computerized designing and qualified engineers and draftsmen at work.
Design and development department is primary department or the base of the organization. As the modification in design is necessary at times to maintain the customer satisfaction and meet competition in the market.

OBJECTIVES
        i.            To design and develop the quality product which are reliable, economically, predicable and meet the customer requirement.
      ii.            To continuously improve the quality of the product.

FUNCTIONS:
The department is responsible for preparation, release, revision, control of manufacturing drawings, scale drawings, materials list general assembly drawing technical specifications and directories
  • Approving the designs drawings, as per the work received by sales department.
  • Assisting sales co-cordinating department and contract reviews.
  • Assisting PPC department for the requirement of JIC’S and fixtures, gauges and other tooling’s.
  • Holding review meeting with PPC, material, QA, SC, department for identifying problem and take corrective actions.
  • The department carries out verification and correction of design and development where required.
  •  To continuously improve the quality.
  • Inspection testing painting packing and dispatch department.

PRODUCTION PLANNING AND CONTROL DEPARTMENT [PPC]
The heart of the organization lies in PPC department. It has primary responsibility for realization of drawings and design into the physical products  according  to the specification.

To achieve its objectives the department plans for manpower and equipments ,plans& organize the layout and machine shapes and assembles for effective operations.

Objectives
This department aims at the attainment of the objective “to plan to meet the production requirements as per the customers. Specifications through continual improvement in planning  processing and optimum utilization of resources.

INSPECTION, TESTING PAINTING , PACKING AND DISPATCH DEPARTMENT.
Quality  assurance department , functional in-charge [final inspection and testing ]and his inspector are responsible  and authorized to inspect , test and maintains the record as per the laid down procedure.

Objective:
  • To ensure that all the product undergo the final inspection and testing as per;
  • Order acceptance
  • Order amendments drawing
  • Work instruction.

Function
·         On reception of the product for final inspection and testing functional in-charge QA [FIC-QA] ENSURE that specification inspection and testing have been carried out and product meets the requirement.
·         Inspection & testing status is provided and accepted product is released for painting packing and dispatching.
·         Product testing certification are prepared as per approved drawing and submitted to the customers through dispatch sectional.
·         Products are offered for   inspection as per the order acceptance.
·         Product  at painting and checked  for required  painting, paints thickness  finish ,packing material, and marking on the boxes and availability  of all accessories as per the packing ship  are verified, signed by FIC-QA and released for dispatch.
·         In case  of non- conformation respective color code as follows  are applied after  the review  for the item like bearing limited switches  or any of the packed item which cannot be  unpacked conduction ,the status is been given container bag ..

ON the basis of the decision given by non-conformation review committee the fell stamps are affixed on the non-conformation reports as application. Reviewed accepted a derivation, reviewed, rejected, review rework, reviewed pending.

DESPATCH DEPARTMENT [DD]
Once the inspection, painting and packing process is complete the products will be ready for dispatching or transporting in different market and they are exported to foreign countries. The industries have its own vehicles for transporting and finished product.

MATERIAL AND STORES DEPARTMENT
Ø  The material and stores team strives to adequately make available the material needed for production.
Material department deals with,
Ø  Subcontractors.
Ø  Purchase
Ø  Stores.

Stores
The HOD of material department is authorized to approve subcontract and issue purchase order/purchase order amendment letter indent work instruction and approval of sub-contract list. Issues of product drawing and purchase correspondence are also done by the HOD of the material of department.

OBJECTIVES
To plan and procure material till they are issued for use.

SUBCONTRACTORS
In the material department, the “subcontractor assessment committee” does the subcontractor selection and approval. This committee consists of HOD and selection in charge of purchase and quality assurance in- charge.

They are classified in according to type of material that they are dealing in, like supply of casting, services like machine and operation, process and maintained, out material, consumable spares and other   raw material.

STORES
STORES are concerned with receipts and issues of material identification and traceability and inventory control. ABC Analysis of inventory management is adopted by the concern for managing inventories.
The activities under taken at store are:-
  • Issues & dispatch material to suppliers through job work. Challan against MRN [material requisition note] received from PPC.
  • Issue material to assembly shop against MRN.
  • Issues  of material  to other  departments against MRN
  • Receive back material unused against credit notes.[if any].
  • Prepare goods  receipts NOTES (GRN)and INSPECTION Report  and forward to IMI
  • [INCOMING materials inspection]  for inspection
  • Prepare “ daily report of receipts  stores  receipts “  and distribute  copies  to PPC  and material  department as and  when material  are received.
  • Stores & preserve the material in the designed area.
  • Maintains stores records.

The stores receives  goods in form of, sales return from customer, customer suppliers product, material purchased  for manufactures, finished products.

In case material after inspection by IMI, non-conformation products are returned back to customer in consultation with sales coordinatation, department. Sales co-ordinate department will initiate further action.
