HINDUSTAN AERONAUTICS LIMITED (HAL)

The corporate office of the HAL is located at
No.15/1 Urban Road,
Bangalore,
all the activities of HAL are controlled from the corporate office.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited was setup in December 1940 by late Sri.Walchand Hirachand in association with Government of Mysore. The company was registered on 23rd December 1940 as a Private Limited Company with an authorized capital of Rs.4 crores.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited which was setup at Bangalore, Karnataka then Mysore was are result of the far vision and ambition Sri.Walchand Hirachand to start this company for manufacturing Aircraft for the first time in India.

The company installed machines and runways and commenced production in collaboration of intercotiental aircraft of USA for the manufacture of
Harlow trainer.

The first fight of the Harlow trainer tooks place on 17th July 1941 and this aircraft was handed over to the Govt. of India in August 1941, A - 10 seater glider designed by Dr.V.M.Ghatge was also test during August 1941.

The aircraft manufacturing programme were abandonded a year later I favour of overhauling and repair to support the 2nd world war effort. During the year 1942-45 HAL repaired about 1200 different varieties of aircraft and 3800 piston engineer. At the end of 2nd world war Government of India took over the management of HAL.

Now being a public sector company it has indigenously designed HT-2 Purpak, Krishalr, Marut and other aircraft.

In August 1962, Government of India entered into a collaboration agreement with the Soviet Union for the manufacture of MIG-21- FL aircraft including its engine and anionics.

On 1st October 1964, with merger of Hindustan Aircraft Limited and Aeronautics India Limited, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited was formed.

The company has been achieving all around growth interns of Technology absorption, production, sales & profit. The company achieved a turnover of Rs.2447 crores during 2000-01 with PBT of Rs.265 crores which enabled the company to declare the highest ever dividend of PBT for the year 2001-02 has been Rs.2730/- crores. (Provisional) and Rs.305% Crores respectively. The company enjoys the highest credit rating viz” A1+ and LAAA by ILRA” P1+ AAA” by CRISIL for short and long-term debt programmes respectively.

HAL has bagged the Gold Trophy Award of the scope as “The Best Public enterprise” in 1998 – 1999. HAL has won the Technology Absorption Award in May 2001 in recognition of the significant contributors made by its division for the Defense Research and Development Officer (DRDO) Hal also bagged the “The Exporter Award” from the engineering export promotion council, Chennai continuously for the last 8 years. In addition HAL was conferred with IIIE award as the excellent performs public sector enterprise for 1998-1999 from the Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering.

India’s growing involvement in space exploration is reflected in the establishment of a world class manufacturing base for space worthy hardware. The aerospace Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited was conceived as early as 1972. Over the years, the scope of this facility was defined and refined, until in 1985, the division became fully functional. The division was dedicated to the nation by the then Prime Minister of India Sri.Chandrashekar on 19.04.1991.

To division provides the technical expertise to fabricate intricate structural load bearing members and separation mechanisms bringing the company’s technological competence to the force.

The Aerospace Division brings under one roof, activities ranging from methodizing, high-rich tooling, precision machining, welding, structural assemblies and quality assurance.

Currently under production are the light Allow sinerted and welded structures for polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV) Geo-Stationary launch vehicle (GSLV), Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS) Indian National Satellite (INSAT) and integration and equipping of L-40 states for GSLV.

Company’s strength lies in a team of highly motivated young professionals out of a total strength of 650, 300 personnel are involved in direct production. As many as 40 qualified and trained personnel constituted our quality assurance team.

CUSTOMER – PROFILE of HAL
VSSC - Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvanthapuram is the lead centre for launch vehicle development. It pioneers rocket research and is involved in the planning & execution of lunch vehicle development project of ISRO.

ISAC:
ISRO Satellite Centre, Bangalore is responsible for the design, fabrication, testing and management of satellite systems for scientific technological and application missions.

LPSC :
Liquid Propulsion System Centre with its facilities located at Thiruvanthapuram, Bangalore and Mahendragiri (in Tamil Nadu) undertake design, development & testing of liquid propulsion systems for ISRO’s Lunch vehicle and satellite programs.
