INTRODUCTION What determines the amount of a good or services that people are willing and ready to sell during some period of time ? people sell things because it is a way, indirect but effective, of obtaining other things that they prefer. Seller intend to make a profit from their sales and economist assume that they want their profit to be as large as possible. Because profit is the different between benefits in the farm of revenues and lasts, anything that influence revenue of costs can influences at cost influence the amount seller want to sell. Supply focuses on the procedure of gods and services. It refers to the quantities of or production that produces we willing and advice to offer at a given price during same period of time. Like demand there are price and non-price determinants of supply. Procedures make decision on how to supply based on profitability. Supply Schedule And Supply Curve : The relationship between the quantity sellers want to sell during some time period (quantity supplies) and price is what economists call the supply curve. through usually the relationship is positive, so that un price increase so does quantity supplied, there are exceptions. Hence is no law of supply that parallels the low of demand. Supply of (IDEA) SIM Cards : Supply during a given period of time means the quantity of products which are offered to sale at particular prices. Thus, the supply of a “IDEA SIM CARD” may defined as the amount of that IDEA SIM card which the sellers (distributes) are able and willing to offer for sale at a particular price during a certain period of time. Secondly, supply is what the seller is able and willing to offer for sale. The ability of a seller to supply the SIM cards, however, depends on the stock available with him. Thus the stock is determinant of supply. A seller’s willingness to supply a SIM Cards. However, depends on the difference between the offer price and normal price or prevailing market price. If the ruling market price is greater than the seller’s offer price, the seller is willing to sell more. But at a price below the offer price, the seller refuses to sell. In short supply always means supply at a given price. At different prices, the supply may be different. Normally, the higher the price, the greater the supply and Vice versa. Supply And Stock : Supply and stock are related but distinct terms : Supply comes out of stock :- Supply is the amount of stock offered for self at a given price. Thus, stock is the basis of supply without stock supply is not possible. IDEA SIM Card Service Areas : The India telecommunications market for mobile services is divided into 22 “Service Areas” classified into “Metro”, Category “A”, Category “B” and category “C” service areas by the Government of India. These classifications are based principally on a Service Area’s revenue generating potential. Our operational 13 service areas are broken up into Established and new service areas. Established Service Areas : The established service areas are Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, Haryana, Kerla, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh (West). Licenses for the Maharashtra and Gujarat Service Areas were awarded in December 1995, with network rollout and commercial launch achieved in 1997. In January 2001 the mobile operations in Andhra Pradesh Service Area were integrated with IDEA through a merger with Tata Cellular Limited. In June 2001, the mobile operations in Madhya Pradesh Service Area were fully integrated with IDEA throguh an acquisition of RPG Cellcom Limited. In October 2001, the license for Delhi Service Area was acquired during the fourth mobile license auction, with network rollout and commercial launch in November 2002. In January 2004, Escotel Mobile Communications Private Limited (“Escotel”), was acquired with its original licenses in the Service Areas of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (West) and Kerala. All these Service Areas were re-branded and integrated with IDEA in June 2004. History : The chronology of key events of the company from incorporation it set out below. Calendar Year Events : 1995 : Incorporated as Birla Communications Limited. Obtained licenses for providing GSM-based services in the Gujarat and Maharashtra Circles following the original GSM license bidding process. 1996: Changed name to Birla AT&T Communications limited following joint venture between GraSIM industries and AT&T Corporation. 1997: Commenced operations in the Gujarat and Maharashtra Circle. 1999: Migrated to revenues share license fee regime under New Telecommunications Policy (NTP). 2000: Merged with Tata Cellular Limited, thereby acquiring original license for the Andhra Pradesh Circle. 2001: Acquired RPG cellular limited and consequently the license for the Madhya Pradesh (including Chattisgarh) Circle. Changed name to Birla Tata AT&T Limited. Obtained license for providing GSM-based services in the Delhi circle following the fourth operator GSM license bidding process. 2002: Changed name to IDEA Cellular Limited and launched “IDEA” brand name. Commenced commercial operations in Delhi Circle. Reached the one million subscriber mark. 2003: Reached the two million subscriber mark. 2004: Completed debt restructuring for the then existing debt facilities and IDEA Cellularitional funding for the Delhi Circle. Acquired Escotel Mobile Communications Limited (subsequently renamed as IDEA Mobile Communications Limited). Reached for four million subscriber mark. First operator in India to commercially launch EDGE services 2005. 2005: Reached the five million subscriber mark. Turned Profit Positive. Won an Award for the “Bill Flash” service at GSM Association Awards in Barcelona, Spain.
