Date of Formation of State is 15th August, 1947 Mysore State (1950-56 part second 1st November, 1973 renamed as a Karnataka)
Total Area is : 1,92,000 sq.km.
Karnataka’s Capital City is Bangalore. Cilicon City.
Neighboring States : Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu.
Population Minimum to Maximum : 5,28,00,000 as per 2006.
Males : 2,70,00,000
Females : 2,58,00,000 Population density : 280, Sex Ratio : 970.
Literacy : 68.00%, males are 77.00% and females are 58.00%.

Entire State Road Length is 1,17,980 kilo meters, Main Railway Stations 3100 kilo meters. The Konkan Railway, the new rail link between Mumbai and Mangalore was dedicated to the nation on May 1, 1998. Main Railway Stations are Bangalore, Mysore, Tumkur, Hosur, Hassan, Mandya, Bellary, Hubli, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Belgaum, Dharwad.
Airports : Bangalore, Belgau, Mangalore, Hubli and Devenhalli as per 2006.
Ports : New Mangalore port is the main all weather seaport.

TOURIST DESTINATIONS :
The garden city of Bangalore has many attractions like Vidhan Soudha, Lalbagh laid by Hyder Ali in 1760, Vishweshwaraiah Museum of Science and Technology, Cubbon Park, Ulsoor Lake island.
Mysore, the capital of the Wodeyars, is famous for the Dasara festival during September-October at the Mysore Palace, Sri rangapatnam, the capital of Tipu Sultan My Brindavan Gardens, Nandi and Chamarajendra Zoological Garden Mysore, are near by places of attraction newly constructed Asia’s First Buddhisam Temple that is Goutam Buddha temple in Gulbarga.
National Park : Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary.
Historic Places : Hampi erstwhile capital of Vijayanagara Empire, Tipu’s Palace, Sri rangapatnam the island fortress of Tipu sultan, Gumbaz mausoleum of Hyder Ali his wife Tipu Sultan, Belur on the bank of river Yagachi, was once the flourishing capital of Hoysala Empire. Sravanabelagola where the 18 metre statue of Gomateshwara stands is a jain pilgrim centre, Badami caves, Pattadakalu on the bank of Malaprabha river, Aihole temples, Gol Gumbaz, Bijapur, Gersoppa is world famous.
Shrines : Ranganathaswamy temple, St.Philomena’s Church, Moodabidri 1000 pillared Jain temple, Karkala Monolith of Gomateshwara, Dharmasthala, Udupi, Gokarna.
Sports : Ramanagaram rock climbing 50 kilo meter from Bangalore, Honnemardu on Sharavathy coracle rafting, canoeing and wind surfing, Cauvery Fishing Camp 82 Kilo meter from Mysore for anglers, Kudremukh and Kemman Gunditrekking.

Total Schools are in state 59490, Total Colleges are in state 1280 and Universities are 20.
