In order to obtain the Athmalinga of Lord Shiva, Ravana performed severe penance at Kailasa and secured the Athmalinga. The Suras frightened by this, approached Lord Ganesha. It is at this holly place that Shreemad Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shree Shree Raghaveshwarbharti Mahaswamiji has resolved to offer vhanting of Rudra (verses describing the auspicious qualities of Lord Shiva) one crore times for the welfare of mankind. Today we live in a world of despair and disturbances. The values of the Sanatana Dharma are on the decline. We find human atrocities and natural calamities. At this critical juncture only the grace of God can save us. Hence His holiness Mahaswamiji has launched the programme of ‘Koti Rudra’ in order to establish peace and happiness in the entire universe.
The unique event at the feet of the Athmalinga will last for one full year. Everyday 27951 Rudranushthana will be performed. In total one crore seven lakh sixty thousand one hundred thirty five Rudranushthana will be offered to the lord. This event will be conducted under the guadence of Shree Shree Raghaveshwarabharati Mahaswamiji with the Sahayoga of the Upadhivanta Madala of Shree Kshetra Gokarna.
